This function monitors the efficiency of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler. The EGR cooler efficiency is calculated from the measured EGR temperature, engine coolant temperature (ECT) and from the calculated turbine temperature.

This diagnostic function detects if the regeneration frequency increases to a level such that it would cause the emissions to exceed the OBD threshold or if the frequency exceeds the design requirements.
The number of completed regenerations during a defined time period is counted. If the number of regenerations are above threshold at the end of the time period fault is reported.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Regeneration successful but too frequent

This function is used to determine the level of soot in the diesel particulate filter (DPF). This is done by using four different signal/parameters; estimated driving distance since last aftertreatment DPF regeneration, the time since last regeneration, fuel consumption and the aftertreatment DPF pressure. When this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is set the filter needs servicing due to high level of soot or the aftertreatment DPF regeneration process does not function properly.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Moderately high soot load
2) Aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) soot load ratio more than 140 %

1) Low Power

Probable cause
1) Regeneration process is not functioning
2) Regeneration inhibited, driver has not allowed regeneration to take place

When the aftertreatment selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system operates under normal conditions, the aftertreatment control module (ACM) monitors diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing valve duty cycle and DEF pump control value. When the DEF dosing valve duty cycle increases above allowed threshold and the DEF pump control value decreases below expected threshold, the ACM stops DEF dosing and reports a fault. The fault might be indication of electrical failure or blockage in DEF dosing valve or DEF supply line from the DEF tank.

1) Average exhaust gas temperature below threshold

1) Exhaust leakage between Engine and Exhaust Aftertreatment System

2) During regeneration the temperature after the catalyst is too high for the existing conditions, above 800??C, (1472??F)
