Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P040C00 PID: EMS Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor “A” This function is used to check if the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) temperature sensor is working and check the status on the EGR cooler. If the sensor should show a value above limit due to extreme driving or malfunction in the cooler, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will derate the engine to avoid damage. Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):1) The voltage at pin A14.EB:48 is less than 0.024 V Observable symptoms1) Engine de-rated Probable cause1) Connector2) Temperature sensor, EGR3) Open circuit, Ground wire4) Short...

Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P041A11 PID: EMS Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor “B” Circuit Circuit descriptionThe EGR Valve operation is controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM) using a pulse width modulated signal.  The ECU provides both the power and ground circuits. The EGR Valve assembly consists of a solenoid, operating a valve by hydraulic pressure provided by the engine’s oiling system. Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC)Actuator voltage is less than 8 volts for 13 continuous seconds Observable symptomsLoss of power Probable cause1) Wires between EGR Valve and Engine Control Module (ECM)2) Connector3) EGR Valve Volvo...

Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P042000 PID: EMS Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

Publicado por Diezel Solutions en

Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P042000 PID: EMS Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold This diagnostic function evaluates if the catalyst is converting the fuel from the aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser into enough heat at the beginning of the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration. The aftertreatment DPF intake temperature sensor (post catalyst) should steadily increase and stabilize once the desired temperatures are met. Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):1) Catalyst outlet temperature reaction time too low to support hydrocarbon conversion Observable symptoms1) None Probable cause1) Obstructed/dirty aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser2) Air purge system3) Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor4) Catalyst failure...

Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P042200 PID: EMS Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) This diagnostic function monitors the aftertreatment DPF temperature sensors and DPF soot level during normal operation. Based upon the operating conditions and DPF soot level the ECU decides if the engine should be de-rated in order to protect the DPF system components. This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can only occur during normal operating conditions, aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration process not active. In some cases extreme driving conditions can cause soot in the DPF to oxidize at an unacceptable rate and cause DPF...
