Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P064112 PID: EMS Sensor Reference Voltage “A”

Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P064112 PID: EMS Sensor Reference Voltage “A”

Circuit description
An analog signal from the accelerator pedal is used to indicate a percent value of the accelerator pedal position. The signal is monitored by the Vehicle Electronic Control Unit (VECU) and communicated to the Engine Control Module (ECM) via the J1939 data link. Based on the signal, the ECM will request a certain engine torque. If the analog signal is too low or too high, the ECM instead uses the digital signal from the accelerator pedal’s idle validation switch to enable driving in limp home mode.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
The electronic control unit (ECU) registers a voltage supply that is higher than 5.7 V
A17.B.PB:10, Supply wire

Observable symptoms
The engine does not respond when accelerator pedal is pressed.

Probable cause
1) Supply wire, Short circuit to higher voltage
2) Connector
3) Accelerator pedal
