Circuit description
The VECU reads the status of the parking brake switch; this information is transmitted via the J1939 data link in order for the Engine Control Module (ECM) to read the parking brake status. If vehicle speed is detected when the switch is closed or circuit shorted to ground this diagnostic code (DTC) will be set after two ignition cycles.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
Short circuit to ground in the component or wiring
Observable symptoms
Brake lights are lit without obvious reason
Vehicle speed is not zero
Probable cause
1) Damaged component
2) Damaged wiring harness
3) Damaged connector
4) Vehicle Control Unit (VECU)
