Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P040200 PID: EMS Engine Exhaust Gas Recirculation 1 Valve Position Flow Excessive Detected

This function is used to calculate the EGR Mass Flow. The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the EGR diffpressure sensor and the EGR temperature sensor after cooler and uses these signals to calculate the EGR Mass Flow data.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) EGR mass flow above calculated value

Probable cause
1) Connector
2) Wiring harness
3) EGR Valve
4) Charge air system leakage
5) EGR differential pressure sensor

Detailed information
1) The EGR mass flow is an calculated value based on a number of sensor signals and software calculations
2) The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be shown as inactive when the ignition key is turned to the 0 position
3) To fully verify the repair it may be necessary to activate vehicle functions or perform a test drive
