The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions: •The ECM detects a high current condition (short circuit) for one second while the ECM is attempting to energize the solenoids for cylinders 1, 2, 5, and 6.•The engine retarder switch is in the medium or high position. Probable Causes: 1) ECM Connection/Harness2) Harness between the ECM and valve cover base3) Engine retarder solenoid failure4) Harness under valve cover5) ECM Failure6) Harness at bulkhead connector

This code indicates that the engine has been derated in order to prevent excessive exhaust temperatures. The engine will only be derated to a level that will allow the exhaust temperature to be lowered to an acceptable level. This code will be logged once the engine has been derated by more than 4%. This is not a code, but an event being logged . Talk to the driver to see if the engine was running under heavy loads or climbing steep hills.
