Cummins ISX CM870 (2003-06) Fault Code: 197 PID: P111 SPN: 111 FMI: 1/18 Coolant Level – Data Valid But Below Normal Operating Range – Moderately Severe Level. Low engine coolant level detected.
This fault code goes active when the coolant level inside the radiator top tank or surge tank drops below the sensor level. Fill the top tank with coolant.
If this fault code is active and the coolant level is not low, disconnect the coolant level sensor and check the connectors for traces of coolant. If coolant is found at the electrical connectors, the sensor has malfunctioned and must be replaced.
For intermittent power supply and datalink communication issues with Aftertreatment Components, it is highly recommended that the OEM Power Distribution Center fuses and relays be thoroughly checked for loose, missing or intermittent connections.
Note: It may not be possible to perform an aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration while this fault code is active.
Possible repairs:
1)Add coolant to the engine.2)If necessary, calibrate the ECM.
