The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:
•The engine is cranking. •The theft deterrent is active.
The diagnostic code is active only. The diagnostic code will be active when the theft deterrent is enabled and the engine is cranking for more than five seconds. The engine will not start until the correct password is entered.
This condition indicates that the J1939 data link is receiving information from a specified device but the information is incomplete or corrupted. The parameter “Powertrain Data Link” must be programmed to J1939.
One of the following conditions must be met:
•The device is broadcasting a fault code. •The Engine Control Module (ECM) is unsuccessful in receiving a specific message from a device. •The device is broadcasting a code that is not supported.
The power train data link is designed to offer electronically controlled Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), traction control systems, and/or transmission controls. This is accomplished by a momentary reduction of engine rpm and/or engine torque, that is triggered by a signal from an off-engine control module for the ABS, the traction control, or the transmission. An off-engine control module is a control module that is not part of theCaterpillar engine control system.
Possible Causes:
1) ECM Connection/Harness 2) Other devices on the J1939 (ABS, Body Controller, Transmission, etc…) are failing causing the issue 3) Improper programming in ECM 4) ECM Failure
This condition indicates that the SAE J1939 data link is not communicating correctly. The parameter “Powertrain Data Link” must be programmed to J1939.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:
•The ECM is unsuccessful in receiving a message from a J1939 source. •The ECM is not receiving a valid message from a J1939 source

The ECM does not detect vehicle speed when conditions indicate vehicle speed should be present. This diagnostic code will not occur if programmed to 3000 rpm and desird engine pm is greater than VSL Protection.
Indicates the Coolant Temperature is above 221°F (105°C) on 3116 engines and 224°F (107°C) on 3216 engines. Engine Monitoring must be programmed to WARNING or DERATE before this diagnostic code can occur. NOTE: This diagnostic code represents an event and not an Electronic System fault.
Indicates the coolant Tempeature is above 226°F (106°C) on 3116 and 230°F (110°C) on 3126 engines. Engine Monitoring must be progammed to WARNING o DERATE before this diagnostic can occur. NOTE: This diagnostic code represents an event and not an Electornic System fault.
