Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P20F500 PID: EMS Reductant Consumption Too High
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC): 1) Aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is used and the level change does not correspond to the consumption
Observable symptoms 1) Too high consumption

Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P20FE00 PID: ACM Aftertreatment Reagent Pump Control Build Up Failure
Circuit description The aftertreatment control module (ACM) monitors the pressure build up in the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing system. This diagnostic function checks the time it takes for the DEF dosing pressure to reach more than 650 kPa (94 psi). If the pressure is not reached in 20 minute(s) this DTC will be set.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) Aftertreatment DEF Dosing Pressure Lower than expected
Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P20FE9A PID: EMS Reductant Metering Unit Performance
Circuit description The DEF quality, level, and temperature sensor detects the concentration of fluid in the DEF tank. The sensor is connected to the DL7 data link which sends a signal to the Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM) and Engine Control Module (ECM). The relevant control module interprets the information and activates a lamp in the instrument cluster, inducement mode or both if necessary
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) Buffer control saturated high
Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P210900 PID: EMS Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor “A” Minumum Stop Performance
An analog signal from the accelerator pedal is used to indicate a percent value of the accelerator pedal position. The signal is monitored by the Vehicle Electronic Control Unit (VECU) and communicated to the Engine Control Module (ECM) via the J1939 data link. Based on the signal, the ECM will request a certain engine torque. If the analog signal is too low or too high, the ECM instead uses the digital signal from the accelerator pedal’s idle validation switch to enable driving in limp home mode.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC): 1) The vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) receives a lower level signal from the sensor that diverges from idle switch 1 and/or idle switch 2
Observable symptoms 1) The engine does not respond when accelerator pedal is pressed.
Probable cause 1) Connector 2) Faulty sensor 3) Vehicle Control Unit (VECU) 4) Wiring harness

Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P213600 PID: EMS Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “A”/”C” Voltage Correlation
The Idle Validation Switch is open at the idle position and transmits no voltage to the (VECU) Vehicle Electronic Control Unit. At approximately 1-13% pedal position the Idle Validation Switch closes and completes the circuit to the (VECU) Vehicle Electronic Control Unit. The (VECU) Vehicle Electronic Control Unit then sends a voltage signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM) indicating accelerator pedal position. If both communication links (J1939, J1587) are faulty the pedal demand functionality enters limp-home. During limp-home the (IVS) Idle Validation Switch is used for ramping requested torque.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC): 1) No signal : Idle validation switch IVS 1 2) 0-13% : Accelerator pedal
Observable symptoms 1) The engine does not respond when accelerator pedal is pressed.
Probable cause 1) Connector 2) Wiring harness between sensor connector and Engine Control Module (ECM) 3) Accelerator pedal 4) Vehicle Control Unit (VECU)

This signal is sent from the (VECU) Vehicle Electronic Control Unit to the Cluster to present the actual vehicle speed. It is also used by the maximum speed limitation. The maximum speed limit can vary depending on customer option.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC): 1) The speed signal from the tachograph is updated incorrectly
Probable cause 1) Wiring harness 2) Data link 3) Tachograph 4) Faulty Calibration Numbers

Circuit description The aftertreatment control module (ACM) uses the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing pressure sensor value to adjust and maintain DEF pressure at the DEF dosing valve by controlling DEF pump speed. If the pressure decreases below expected value when the pump is in initial pressure build-up mode or if the pressure increases above expected value when pump is in idle speed mode, the ACM considers DEF pressure outside of normal operating range and indicates a malfunction in a DEF dosing pressure sensor.
Observable symptoms No aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosage
