Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P205A64 PID: EMS Reductant Tank Temperature Sensor

Circuit description
Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM) monitors DEF tank temperature and uses it to control the Aftertreatment DEF Tank Heater valve to keep the DEF from freezing.

This temperature monitoring is also used to avoid stopped DEF dosing due to high DEF tank temperatures. If the DEF temperature is too high, reverse flow will be activated, if the temperature stays high for a short duration, a DTC is set.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
The temperature in the tank is below normal

Probable cause
1) Temperature Sensor, Aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank
2) Wiring harness
3) Aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank heater valve
4) DEF Tank Heating Valve installed backwards

Circuit description
The aftertreatment control module (ACM) uses the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing pressure sensor value to adjust and maintain DEF pressure at the DEF dosing valve by controlling DEF pump speed. If the pressure decreases below expected value when the pump is in initial pressure build-up mode or if the pressure increases above expected value when pump is in idle speed mode, the ACM considers DEF pressure outside of normal operating range and indicates a malfunction in a DEF dosing pressure sensor.
