Volvo All Engines (2013 Emissions) Fault Code: P113500 PID: EMS Crankcase Pressure Relative To Ambient Pressure Too High

The Crankcase Pressure Sensor is used to detect crankcase pressure system failures. The sensor consists of a pressure sensitive diaphragm and amplifier. Crankcase pressure causes the sensor’s diaphragm to deflect and produce an electrical signal proportional to the pressure. The diaphragm deflection signal is amplified in the sensor.
The engine control module (ECM) will set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) if the sensor signal is not within predetermined limits. The ECM can also disable the engine brake, derate or shut down the engine to avoid engine damage.
The sensor’s signal is monitored by the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Irrational pressure

Observable symptoms
1) Engine shutdown
2) Engine brake disabled
3) Low Power
4) Limited engine speed

Probable cause
1) High engine oil level
2) Excessive wear or damage to cylinder liners, piston, piston rings or turbocharger internal seals
3) Restricted crankcase ventilation
4) The following connectors may have been switched: B54: Crankcase pressure sensor, B118: Engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor

Detailed information
1) The alarm sounds if the pressure is more than 5 kPa (0.73 psi)

The NOx sensor measures the amount of NOx in the exhaust system. The NOx sensor is connected in the J2284/ISO data link. This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates a NOx monitoring failure. For example; NOx sensor short- or open circuit, NOx sensor removed, NOx sensor missing signal.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Inlet/outlet, high/low range
2) The values do not agree

The oil thermostat is located in the oil filter housing and controls the engine oil temperature by controlling if the oil is sent through the oil cooler or not. The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors that the thermostat is working as expected by comparing the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Sensor value to a calculated oil temperature.

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) The voltage at pin A14.EB:53 is less than 33?% of the battery voltage

Diagnostic operating conditions
1) Ignition key in ON position

Observable symptoms
1) Engine overheating
2) Fan engaged constantly
