Volvo All Engines (2017 Emissions) Fault Code: P009D00 PID: EMS Fuel Pressure Relief Control Circuit High

Circuit description
The common rail diesel injection system is pressurized by the plungers of the pumping injector. The common rail is equipped with a rail fuel pressure sensor and an electronic pressure relief valve (EPRV). The primary functions of the electronic relief valve are: 1) Lower the pressure in the high pressure circuit by discharging fuel to maintain the minimum required rail fuel pressure to start and run the engine. 2) Heat the fuel by controlling the rail fuel pressure during cold start conditions. The secondary functions are to prevent excessive rail fuel pressure, control the rail fuel pressure in the event of a rail fuel pressure sensor failure. The rail pressure sensor and the electronic pressure relief valve are monitored by the engine control module

Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
Short circuit to battery voltage A14.EA:17, EA:18
Electrical fault in valve

Diagnostic operating conditions
Ignition key in ON position

Observable symptoms
Engine de-rated

Probable cause
1) Wiring harness
2) EPRV, Electric Pressure Relief Valve
3) Engine control module (ECM)
