Detroit DD16 EPA07 (2007-09) Fault Code: SPN 3251 FMI 0 (MCM) Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Out of Range Very High

NOTE:
This fault code sets when the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) outlet pressure is greater than 35 kPa (5 psi) for more than 10 seconds.

DESCRIPTION:
DPF pressure out of range very high.

MONITORED PARAMETER:
Exhaust Pressure

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Always on

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL
3. SEL

ENGINE REACTION:
Derate 25%

VERIFICATION:
Run engine between 1200 to 1800 rpm with a load less than 10%.

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Inspect all connections upstream of the MCM – DPF inlet pressure sensor, ATD harness 10-pin connector, VIH 31-pin connector, and MCM 120-pin connector.
2. DPF inlet pressure sensor.
3. DPF inlet pressure hose.
4. Perform parked regen.
5. Inspect DPF for excessive soot, oil, or coolant.
