Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 4139 PID: SPN: 1746 FMI: 2 Security Device – Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect.
Posted by Diezel Solutions on
Circuit DescriptionThe OEM security device is an optional device connected to the primary engine control module (ECM) through a J1939 data link network. Messages sent from the security device are received by the Cummins® ECM and are used to control the anti-theft features. The Cummins® ECM and security device must be configured properly so that proper operation of the system will occur. Component LocationThe J1939 data link wiring and location of OEM installed J1939 devices varies by OEM. See equipment manufacturer service information for component location Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is in the...
Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 415 PID: 100 SPN: 100 FMI: 1 Engine Oil Rifle Pressure – Data Valid but Below Normal Operating Range – Most Severe Level.

Circuit DescriptionThe engine oil pressure switch is used by the electronic control module (ECM) to monitor the lubricating oil pressure. If the oil pressure drops below the engine protection limit, the switch will open and cause Fault Code 415 to log. The oil pressure switch is normally closed when the engine is not running and open when oil pressure is present. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the engine is running. Conditions for Setting the Fault CodesThe ECM detects that the engine oil pressure is below minimum operating conditions. Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active-The...
Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 418 PID: 97 SPN: 97 FMI: 0 Water-in-Fuel Indicator – Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range – Least Severe Level.

Circuit DescriptionThe water-in-fuel sensor is attached to the fuel filter. The electronic control module (ECM) provides a 5 volt reference signal to the water-in-fuel sensor. When the water collected in the fuel filter covers the sensor probes, the water-in-fuel sensor pulls the 5-VDC reference voltage to ground, indicating high water accumulation in the fuel filter. Component LocationThe water-in-fuel sensor is integrated into the bottom of the OEM supplied suction fuel filter. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is in the ON position. Conditions for Setting the Fault CodesThe ECM detects that water in the fuel...
Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 425 PID: 175 SPN: 612 FMI: 2 Engine Oil Temperature – Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect.

Circuit DescriptionThe engine oil temperature sensor is a variable resistor sensor and is used to measure the temperature of the engine oil in the oil rifle. The electronic control module (ECM) supplies 5 volts to the engine oil temperature signal circuit. The ECM monitors the change in voltage caused by changes in the resistance of the sensor to determine the engine oil temperature. When the oil temperature is low, the sensor or thermistor resistance is high. The ECM signal voltage only pulls down a small amount through the sensor to a ground. Therefore, the ECM senses a high signal voltage...
Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 427 PID: SID 231 SPN: 639 FMI: 9 J1939 Data Link – Abnormal Update Rate.

Circuit DescriptionDevices such as ABS controllers, autoshift transmissions, ASR systems, electronic displays, electronic information systems, electronic service tools, and vehicle electronic control unit(s) (VECUs) can communicate with the ECM over the SAE J1939 data link. Messages sent from the devices are received by the ECM and used for controlling the engine. The ECM also transmits information to these devices over the SAE J1939 data link. Component LocationThe SAE J1939 data link wiring and the SAE J1939 devices vary by OEM options. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is in the ON position. Conditions for Setting...
