Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 343 PID: SID 254 SPN: 629 FMI: 12 Electronic Control Module Warning Internal Hardware Failure – Bad Intelligent Device or Component.

Posted by Diezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe electronic control module (ECM) receives constant voltage from the batteries through the unswitched battery wires that are connected directly to the positive (+) battery post. The ECM receives switched battery input through the vehicle keyswitch wire when the vehicle keyswitch is turned on. Component LocationThe ECM is connected to the battery by the OEM power harness through the ECM battery supply stub. This provides a constant power supply for the ECM. The location of the battery will vary with the OEM. Refer to the OEM troubleshooting and repair manual for component location. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic...

Circuit DescriptionThe accelerator interlock switch and powertrain protection torque limit switch, clutch pedal position switch and engine protection shutdown manual override switch, idle shutdown accessory relay and engine brake lamp output, switched maximum engine operating speed and governor type switch are all outputs or switched inputs from the ECM that can be enabled or disabled using INSITE™ electronic service tool. Many of the outputs and switched inputs share a common wire on the OEM wiring harness. The following features share common wires in the OEM harness: -Accelerator Interlock Switch and Powertrain Protection Torque Limit Switch-Clutch Pedal Position Switch and Engine...

Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 3492 PID: SPN: 251 FMI: 10 Real Time Clock – Abnormal Rate of Change.

Posted by Diezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe real-time clock consists of a timing chip internal to the engine control module (ECM) which monitors engine off time, i.e. how long the engine has been shut down. Component LocationThe real time clock is a timing chip internal to the ECM and can not be serviced separately. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs after initial key-on and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Conditions for Setting the Fault CodesThe engine off timer is not counting correctly and does not match other timers in the ECM. Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active-The ECM illuminates the amber...

Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 351 PID: SID 251 SPN: 627 FMI: 12 Injector Power Supply – Bad Intelligent Device or Component.

Posted by Diezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionBetween each injection event, the electronic control module (ECM) attempts to recharge the injector power supply. The injector power supply consists of a bank of capacitors; this power supply is maintained at high voltage. Recharging is accomplished by recovering energy stored in the injector solenoids. For the injector power supply to remain fully charged, there must be good ECM battery power and ground, a good engine speed sensor, and good injector circuits. Component LocationThe injector power supply is located inside the ECM Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the engine speed is greater than 500 rpm,...

Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 352 PID: SID 212 SPN: 3509 FMI: 4 Sensor Supply 1 Circuit – Voltage Below Normal or Shorted to Low Source.

Posted by Diezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe sensor supply 1 of the electronic control module (ECM) provides a 5 volt supply for multiple engine sensors. Component LocationSensor supply number 1 is located in the ECM engine harness connector and provides a 5 volt supply to various sensors. The supply voltage is spliced off in the engine harness to each sensor it supports. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is in the ON position or when the engine is operating. Conditions for Setting the Fault CodesThe ECM detects that the sensor supply 1 signal voltage is less than 4.75-VDC for more...
